GREEK ARCHITECTURE AWARDS 2014

Overview

In the 'GREEK ARCHITECTURE AWARDS 2014' sixteen works were shortlisted. Within the group of these top-ranking designs there are seven built works, five first (executed) buildings by young architects, and four projects. There is a total of eleven works of a residential character, gain a majority among the sixteen top-ranking designs, this time slightly weaker than in previous years. Next to the successful vacation homes, an increased number of renovation and addition projects in urban contexts appears, a tendency that the protracted economic crisis, also a deep crisis in real estate development, will certainly invigorate. The decree of 2011 that re-established architectural competitions as the only procedure for public commission has not led to any important realisations yet. The only executed project of public character is a temporary structure, sadly outside Greece. The percentage of built works in the group of the top-ranking has been stable.
