GREEK ARCHITECTURE AWARDS 2018

Overview

A total of 150 entries were submitted for the 'GREEK ARCHITECTURE AWARDS 2018'. These corresponded to 116 different teams of contributors and equally numbered 'peer votes'. In the end, the right to a judgement was exercised by 91 teams. The assessment procedure was decided upon internally by each design team, but it was determined that its expression should be the work of its representative.

Of the 25 distinguished entries, 13 are private houses, all completed, and in the overwhelming majority holiday homes intended for at least partial commercial exploitation. Seven involve works of a public character, public buildings, and open-air spaces, of which only one has been completed. The remaining five concern commercial and professional premises. All these are completed. The objectives and restrictions of economic expediency in the terms of judgement are apparent in the case of the majority of works. In certain others, the quest for a very sui generis enjoyment, sometimes within the framework of conventional luxury, and sometimes as a search for the minimal and the special, is equally apparent.
