Description

The school is located on the outskirts of the town, near the sea and next to a wooded hill. The layout took advantages of these natural features, and all classrooms and courtyards face either the sea or the hill.

The school complex includes:
a)    high-school building and courtyard,
b)    lyceum and courtyard,
c)    public areas (assembly hall, exhibition room, library etc),
d)    gymnasium and sportsgrounds.

The school buildings are linked with covered passageways. They are threestoried structures, with classrooms on the first and second floors. The ground floor houses physics and chemistry labs, administration offices, toilets and lounges. The upper floors are served by two staircases, and each classroom is preceded by a lobby serving as a cloakroom.
The assembly hall, the library and the exhibition room extend onto the atrium, which functions as an open-air assembly area. The gymnasium is placed οπ a lower level. The yards are landscaped with shrubs, benches and slate slab pavements.
The construction is of exposed reinforced concrete painted over. Partition walls are of brick masonry and exterior windows and door frames of iron.
During construction certain elements were changed without the architect's consent. The boundary wall, designed as a stone masonry wall, was built with concrete. The shapes and texture of the formwork for exposed reinforced concrete were changed. Finally, the flower containers, designed in concrete, were replaced by standardized asbestos cement boxes, different in both shape and size from the original.
