Description
The study was completed in 1967 and published in Architecture in Greece 4/1970, pp. 165-167. Construction of the first stage was completed in 1970. Originally intended for 560 pupils, it now serves 750 girls in the mornings and 750 boys in the afternoons.
The finished structure deviates from the original design in many important ways, which will probably lead to increased maintenance costs. These alternations were mainly due to the fact that the architects were excluded from the construction phase. In particular, the form of the cantilevers was changed, surfaces intended to be in exposed reinforced concrete have subsequently been plastered, the drains of the entrance awning are in sheet-iron rather than concrete, et al.
