Overview

After the sea and the suburbs, the third issue of the publication "KATOIKIES" is about housing in the urban environment. Greek cities are characterized by architectural polyphony, with the predominant typology being the post-war apartment building. In the "KATOIKIES in the City" issue, fourteen urban architecture projects present a wide range of examples of contemporary Greek housing in Athens and Thessaloniki, from a renovated neoclassical mansion and creative transformations of affordable apartments, to a newly built complex of micro-housing units.

Each project is presented through rich photographic material and original texts, tracing how architecture today responds to the needs and desires of the inhabitants of Greek cities. The issue's content also includes a historical section, which takes a look back at the evolution of Greek urban housing, setting the historical context within which the architectural trends shaping the modern urban landscape are taking shape today.

The collector's issue "KATOIKIES in the City" was released on Sunday, July 28, exclusively with "Kathimerini".
