Overview

DOMa invites the public to a lecture by the international architectural firm MVRDV, on Friday, May 16, at the Benaki Museum (138 Peiraios Str).

MVRDV was founded in 1993 in Rotterdam by Winy Maas, Jacob van Rijs, and Nathalie de Vries. Today, the office comprises over 300 collaborators and has projects in more than 40 countries. Their design approach is marked by a strong urban awareness, an experimental spirit, and a continuous pursuit of sustainable and participatory forms of living.

Projects such as the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen (the world's first publicly accessible art storage facility), the award-winning Valley in Amsterdam, and the Tianjin Library in China reflect their ongoing ambition to re-examine the relationship between form, function, and collective experience.

The lecture by MVRDV in Athens offers an opportunity for meaningful dialogue about the role of architecture today: in a rapidly changing world, how do we design spaces that respond to the needs of tomorrow? What are the tools, boundaries, and potentials of architecture as both an imaginative and responsible act?

The lecture will be delivered in English.
